Dopo aver vinto il suo primo Ivor Novello Award per la canzone “Age of Anxiety”, Jamie Cullum torna con un album dall’atmosfera natalizia “The Pianoman At Christmas” in uscita il prossimo 20 novembre. L’album, che comprende dieci canzoni originali e vede cinquantasette musicisti coinvolti, è stato registrato presso gli studi di Abbey Road, con la produzione di Greg Wells (Adele, Dua Lipa, The Greatest Showman). L’album è anticipato dal singolo “Turn On The Lights” disponibile dal 9 ottobre su tutte le piattaforme digitali.

“Sono sempre stato attratto dalle canzoni natalizie… quelle realizzate dalle grandi orchestre, con i bei cambi di accordi, i testi mirati e senza tempo, – racconta Jamie – Per questo ho provato a scrivere dieci canzoni natalizie originali, cercando di creare qualcosa di non banale e avventuroso, pieno delle atmosfere gioiose di questa fansastica stagione dell’anno . Il disco è stato realizzato nel leggendario Studio 2 di Abbey Road e spero che la cura, l’attenzione ai dettagli e la pura gioia che abbiamo messo nel realizzarlo porterà un po’ di magia a questo Natale”.

“The Pianoman At Christmas” segue l’uscita nel 2019 di “Taller” l’album più introspettivo finora realizzato da Cullum. In “Taller” Jamie ha intrecciato influenze funk, pop, gospel e ha affrontato argomenti personali con un nuovo senso di autenticità, ogni canzone in particolare riflette il desiderio di crescere, imparare ed esplorare la vita. “The Age of Anxiety” è la canzone tratta dall’album che gli ha fatto vincere il suo primo Ivor Novello Award.

Con dieci milioni di album venduti e una carriera di oltre vent’anni, Jamie Cullum ha realizzato leggendari spettacoli dal vivo e ha collaborato con vari artisti quali Herbie Hancock, Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar e IDLES. Il successo della sua etichetta discografica, Twentysomething nel 2003 e del suo seguito Catching Tales, gli è valso la nomination per un BRIT, un Grammy e numerosi altri premi in tutto il mondo. Oltre alla carriera da musicista, Jamie conduce da ormai dieci anni il programma musicale “The Jazz Show” su BBC Radio 2.
